Days, a time, and your timezone

Production starts ahead of the slot — six hours by default — and runs the same pipeline the render button runs, minus the upload: images, narration, composition, thumbnail and publish copy. By the time the slot arrives the reel is finished and waiting for you.
If the reel is not right, hold it. A held reel never goes out, and the series keeps its schedule instead of stalling on the one you rejected.
A new series produces reels and leaves them for you. Turn auto-publish on for a series you trust and its reels go out to YouTube Shorts at the slot, after the review window you set, unless you held them. Instagram is not in the cadence's publish set at all, and connecting your own Instagram account is waiting on Meta App Review in any case.
A series that fails twice consecutively disables itself rather than retrying into the void, production pauses while unapproved reels queue up, and the workspace's daily render budget still applies — so a cadence cannot run away with your renders or your provider bill.
The cadence takes the oldest backlog entry first and keeps the order of a multi-part story, so part four cannot go out before part three. If the backlog is empty it generates a single idea for that slot rather than skipping it.
Composing motion components on a cadence ships switched off, at both the instance and the project level, because it has not been proven across enough projects yet. Until it is on, a scheduled reel is generated stills plus narration — the full component catalog is for reels you or your agent compose.
The pitch for channel autopilot is that videos go out without you, and the half of that pitch worth having is the production, not the posting. So the cadence here finishes the reel hours early and then waits: you can open it, fix a line, re-render a scene, or hold it outright. What goes out is something that existed long enough for you to have an opinion about it.
Auto-publish is opt-in per series and off in a new one, so nothing posts unless you switch it on — and where it is on, it is YouTube Shorts, after the window you set, unless you held the reel. Posting to Instagram Reels stays something a person does, and connecting your own Instagram account is waiting on Meta App Review regardless. A series that fails twice in a row turns itself off, which is the version of set-and-forget we are willing to ship.
